Fun in the snow!

Image
Despite the amount of snow we had, we did actually have a good time in it! We started Saturday with making a big pot of chili and chicken noodle soup and ventured out to clean our cars...when I say 'we' you know what I mean. :) Here are our cars...Can you spot them??! Rolling in the snow... Cayleigh face planted a couple times and decided that the part of snow she liked best was going to get 'hot cocoa' so we went in and down for a rest. We went back out for round 2 and took a walk around the neighborhood and tried unsuccessfully to make a snowman but did make a snow slide... Her slide.. Daddy and Cayleigh having a moment.. :) Please note how high that snow is behind her! Eating snow together!!

Snowpocalypse..

Snowmageddon/Snowpacolypse/Snowtorious B.I.G-WHERE do weathermen come up with these names??!! I digress. We got snow. LOTS of snow. Somewhere between 2-3 feet. Anyone who knows me knows I love snow-but 2+ feet?? It's more than you can play in so I'm over it. Just heard from a neighbor we could get more Tuesday. Ok, so there is one person who was super excited about the snow. She couldn't wait to get outside once the snow began. Here is my timeline of snowfall....It wasn't so bad when we went to bed-maybe 6-8 inches, but when we woke up we had an additional foot or more! 6pm... 11pm... 8am.... Next up...Fun in the snow!

Puzzles

Cayleigh's latest obsession are puzzles. She is typically not a kid who will play with something for more than 10 minutes before moving to the next thing, but she will do puzzles for an hour easy. Now, she does want help, but truthfully she doesn't need it. We've moved from the peg puzzles to the 9 piece puzzles, and now to the 25 piece kind. While they were challenging in the beginning, she can do them with ease. I will put maybe 1-2 pieces together so she thinks I'm "helping", but she does the rest. Puzzles make you sleepy! :)

A good cause...

I need your help! We are planning on going to Disney World this summer for a few days and heard about Disney's Give a day, Get a day program . We thought it was a great way to volunteer and take a little time out to do something a bit different. We decided to go with Friends For Life, a non profit, no kill rescue dedicated to helping homeless cats. This organization provides medical care, food and shelter for cats until they are adopted. The person I spoke with said they feed over 200 cats per day. We are collecting donations for them and are hoping our friends and family can help us out! Below is a list of things they've asked us to collect, anything you can do would be greatly appreciated! We'd be happy to pick the donations up as well. There is no donation too small, every little bit will help! -Dry cat food -Scoopable cat litter -Bleach -Dishwashing liquid -Paper Towels

So this week on facebook is Doppledanger something or other where you post who you look like....I did a facial recognition and got Rebecca Gayheart and Hilary Duff, while Matt got Joe Rogan and Michael Jordan...........HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Here is the picture I used-Christmas 08'. What do you think? For the record, I'm going with NO for any of those! As far as Cayleigh goes, I get told occasionally that she looks like Brad and Angelina's daughter, Shiloh....Now why didn't they say we looked like Brangelina??! LOL!

Roast chicken with veggies....

Last night we tried our hand at a recipe I had watched on TV while I was sick. We LOVE food network and typically prefer Paula Deen's recipe's more than anyone. I tuned in to Ina(Barefoot Contessa) who usually bores me and uses too many ingredients, but she was making a lemon garlic roasted chicken. I try to make a new dish once a week and though many nights are boring at this house, I love to cook and am always looking for new ideas. I have never made a chicken in the oven actually. I always figured the store bought rotisserie would be better than anything I could make....WRONG! This was absolutely delicious and better than that, simple to make. Here is the recipe I found online, it is a tiny bit different from what she did on tv, so I made a few changes-I'll put them in bold 1 (5 to 6 pound) roasting chicken Kosher salt (used regular) Freshly ground black pepper 1 large bunch fresh thyme, plus 20 sprigs (skipped this) 1 lemon, halved 1 head garlic, cut in half crosswise...
