We have added some really great new girls to our troop that we are excited about. Our group has literally doubled! We made flower pots for the moms of the group at the past meeting to earn our pink petal... Jaina Kaya

New petal

This month's petal was about recycling and helping the earth. They went through a bag of items and had to pick which was recyclable and which wasn't. It's a race! Little sister! :)

Pool Party

Image
The girl scouts had a year closing pool party. We basically just wanted to let them hang loose and have a good time. Though it got rescheduled twice due to the weather, it ended up being a gorgeous evening and the girls had a great time. A new petal..

Before we left for vacation, the girls worked on a new petal. I've said it before but I'll say it again-signing her up for girl scouts was one of the best things I did after moving. We've really loved the friendships she is making and even the friendships I'm making by joining.  I really hope it's something she sticks with.

Orange petal

Image
The Girl Scouts are working on their petals and each mom had to pick a petal to teach. I chose the orange petal which represents Responsible for What I Say and Do. I decided to have each girl scout pick a fruit at the April meeting to bring to May's meeting. If each girl remembered, we would have a fruit salad. With the help of a reminder email-all the girls remembered and we let them cut up their fruit and contribute. I also read the Cat in the Hat and talked about who was responsible and who was not. Lastly, we worked on making responsibility charts. The girls really seemed to like making their own charts and choosing what they can help around the house with. I wasn't able to get many pictures since I was runnin' the show but all in all I'd say it was a success! Eating the fruits of their labor! Their responsibility charts!

Soap Making

Cayleigh is now a Daisy. She is absolutely loving it, since most of her friends are doing it as well. We are getting ready to start selling girl scout cookies, so be on the lookout for us! She is really excited to start collecting her badges and I am loving the special time I'm getting with her. Here is her group minus one- this past weekend we went to the movies and had pizza!
