I should start by saying I'm feeling a bit better than yesterday. I got a better night's sleep by propping myself up with 2 pillows. I woke up at 6am and washed my face only to look in the mirror and want to scream at the ungodly sight I call my face. Both of my eyes were so swollen you couldn't tell the eyelids from my cheek. Really, when it rains, it pours apprently. I took zyrtec and my antibiotics and put a cool compress on my face. It took 4 hours to go away. Ok, enough about me. I just want to add a little about Cayleigh, since it really is what I want the blog to focus on! She is really starting to behave herself. She definitely has her moments, but overall, she is starting to listen better and I think it has something to do with her ability to communicate. She is learning about 2-4 words a week. This week it is turtle, mote(remote), up(when she wants to be picked up) and out(when she wants to go outside). She gets excited when she has done a good thing and says ...

Still sick....

Took the day off today. Well, sort of. I still ended up doing 2 hours of work from home, perk of having a work laptop! At least I am not spreading my germs though! Also, had no soups at home that impressed me so I made a potato vegetable soup that turned out really good for a change. Super easy! I was eating it in 30 minutes! I did use the 98% fat free soup and omitted the salt...added an extra cup of water and doubled the veggies....It was a big hit with Cayleigh, and she is only usually a fan of peas! 2 1/2 cups water 2 potatoes, peeled and cubed 1 tablespoon salt, or to taste 1 carrot, chopped 1 stalk celery, chopped 1/4 onion, chopped 1 cube beef bouillon 1 tablespoon olive oil 1/2 cup frozen mixed vegetables 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of celery soup 1/4 tablespoon dried parsley 1/2 teaspoon onion powder ground black pepper to taste DIRECTIONS In a large stock pot boil potatoes in water and add salt. Cook potatoes until tender and soft and then add carrots, celery, chopped...

So I've been sick on and off for the past 2 weeks. I did go to the docs, as you may remember, and found out I had a sinus infection. Got meds and now a couple days later caught the sore throat my mom has been complaining about! Better me than Cayleigh, but really, enough is enough! Haven't done much lately, Pam came over and spoiled Cayleigh with some adorable outfits! Cayleigh used the dress to make mickey into a minnie, and carried the other 2 on the hangers all morning! I spent all today cleaning and am about 80% done with my spring cleaning. It sometimes seems as though I spend my whole life cleaning, but I feel proud to have a clean home, and appreciative to only work part time, so the domestic part of me likes to clean so Matt doesn't have to do as much. Plus that way our weekends are free! Cayleigh even helped me and cleaned the windows, tv's and table with me. She kept saying "YAY, good girl!" and clapping her hands! Brushing her puppy's teeth.... ...

Happy Mother's Day!

I hope everyone had a wonderful, special mother's day. We hung around the house, cleaning(shocking, I know!) because we had been at my mom's the past 3 days doing yardwork as part of her mother's day gift. We planted, put down mulch, mowed, etc. Yesterday was also Kristin's senior prom so that took up half the day, as I did her hair, nails, photos and helped with makeup. Today I just was happy to get a little order in the house! We also set up the new crib(no, I am NOT pregnant!) and Cayleigh loves it. We decided to put it in our room for the week to help her adjust to it being a toddler bed, but then we will put it in her room. No real reason to make the big change to a toddler bed, other than the fact that our AWESOME cousin(ish :) ) gave us a new beautiful crib and we figured why not?! Matt's mom came over for a bit and gave me a beautiful hanging basket. Oh and Matt had beautiful tulips sent, and the Giauque crew gave me beautiful roses, can you tell I LOVE flo...
