Beef Stew, buddies, and birthday cakes...

Image
I woke up freezing Wednesday so I thought it would be a good beef stew day. I altered this recipe with what alot of reviewers suggested and it turned out really yummy! Not your average bland beef stew, had nice flavor! Below is a pic and the recipe. Cayleigh also declared that day "Dora Day". She is really enjoying that show and learning from it. We went to the store and the second she laid eyes on the Dora soup, she fell in love...She talked about "doraaaa doup"(soup) all morning. When I added her dora yogurt to her menu for lunch, she squealed with excitment. It's the little things in life, right?! Today my dad came and we celebrated my 21st +6 birthday(do NOT mention I am 27 almost, it still stings) early and brought me my favorite cake from Herman's in Baltimore..Good old yellow cake and white icing. Cayleigh "helped" with the candles.. 2 pounds beef stew meat, cut into 1 inch cubes( I used 1.5lb ) 1/4 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon salt ( ...

The great outdoors...

Image
I for one, am not typically known as an outdoor girl. I hate bugs, dirt, and the way you smell after a day out. That is why I have never gone camping in the 10 years I've known Matt. About 4 years ago, we did buy pretty much everything to give it a try, but I chickened out and so the tote of gear got stowed away and long forgotten. Matt asked me about a month ago and added in "you know Cayleigh would love it"...and that always works. We were scheduled to go next weekend, but I called him up Thursday afternoon and said I thought maybe it would be a good idea to give it a one night trial this weekend since next weekend we are going for 2 nights and 2 full days... To my surprise, we had a great time. Oh there were "kinks" to get out, literally. Our back and neck hurt so bad from only sleeping on bags, next week we will have a air mattress and a few more pillows. Cayleigh, however, slept longer that night than at home! We(*cough, cough* MATT!) forgot her diaper bag...
