Dance Class...
I decided on a whim to put Cayleigh in a dance class. It was very affordable and since she isn't in preschool/daycare, I want her to get some interaction with other children and get used to having a teacher of some sort. It's the first class where I can't be there next to her, the parents sit on the other side of a wall and can peek occasionally, but really you mostly just hear what's going on because seeing parents can distract the kids. Sounds great, right?
Why can't anything go smoothly?
I guess my blog would be quite boring then.
Assuming you don't think it's boring already.
Ahem.

Week 1:

So a friend of mine also enrolled her daughter and we arrived together for the first week. I should also add that we started them on the 3rd week of the class, since I found out about the class a bit late. We arrived and were greeted by the teacher who asked why we were there. We introduced ourselves and our kids and told her we were here for the class. She said the class was full. Well, the people we paid said there were 2 openings. She grumpily said she'd be having a talk with them about it, and walked away. Yay kids, meet your teacher!! We left the girls and sat down. We peeked a couple times and it looked like fun, so I relaxed. Maybe things would be easy. I mean I wasn't expecting her to teach Cayleigh a pirouette!
I started hearing Summer's(my friend's daughter) name alot. By the time I peeked over, Summer was sitting and it was Cayleigh dancing all over the gym. I sat back down. "Summer, no", "Summer, come here", "Summer, don't do that!" By that time we were both peeking seeing what "Summer" was doing. Summer was sitting and listening to the teacher. Cayleigh was twirling, cutting in line, dancing, talking.
Sigh.
They had their names mixed up. For 45 minutes all we heard was SUMMER.
I was really upset. I just felt like you couldn't expect Cayleigh to listen if they weren't saying her name. It was really sad. At the end of the class I took her to the teach and told her, and she was hardly embarassed, just said she would get it right next week. After MUCH consideration, I took her back.
To my astonishment, it went better. She still has trouble standing in line and waiting her turn, but really this is why I put her in the class. She does love the dancing part as well. Hopefully things will progress in this direction.
Otherwise, it will be a long 4 weeks left.
