I give up....

So Cayleigh is currently about 23lbs and 33.5in. The law say to put your child forward facing they have to be one year old and 20lbs. We decided not to turn her around when she got to 20lbs around her first birthday due to all of the reading and research I did on extended rear facing. Our car seat allowed for much more time and it is just all around safer, I'll spare you the videos, they are scary.

Fast forward to Cayleigh, now 20 months. She has never been a car rider. Since she came home from the hospital she has been unhappy in the car. Anyone who has been in the car with her can tell a good story. She is much better than she was as an infant, but it is still a struggle. Her newest thing is to get stiff as a board when you try to put her in and she has my back seat as leverage. It is nearly impossible to put her in and I always feel like I am hurting her. It is such a defeat.

I decided yesterday enough is enough. I want her to be safe, but I also want her to be happy. It is just a battle I am done fighting with her. My mom turned her forward facing in her suburban with my permission a couple weeks ago and she is just a totally different kid. There you have it, Cayleigh 1, Mom and Dad 0.

we did extended RF too. I just turned her around a few wks after her 2nd bday. She still HATES the carseat though. Glad she's liking it better though!

You did a great job RFing this long. We turned Asher at 18 months because he gets so sick in the car. It wasn't worth it to me for him to puke (usually multiple times) on every long car ride.

Day 2 of the snow....

Today we got a batch of ice which so nicely laid over our 2-3 inches of snow. Luckily, I was off and didn't have to call in! Matt went to work a couple hours late so I made a big breakfast with eggs, bacon, homefries, toast, and orange slices! We played and watched a good bit of TV, I'm not proud to say, but with Matt fighting a cold, and me with a headache again, I decided to make it a low key day and she was thrilled! After her morning nap and lunch, "we" decided to surprise daddy with some cookies. I let her watch me and she helped stir and lick the beater. 10 is...

I decided to pop back into my blog and reminisce, and boy is it sad. All of my pictures are gone, thanks to a company wanting $400 to publish them. At least I have my words...On that note, I thought I'd write a bit of what 10 looks like: -Eating a bowl of cereal and a pop tart EVERY morning -Really starting to cooking unassisted. She made a 2 layer cake this week and thanks to a 2 hour delay I got pancakes. Teaching her to cook has been pretty cool.  -Begging me for a cup of coffee because she wants to be grown up. I let her have 1/2 a cup here and there-they say it stunts your growth. I say she is 5 foot 2 inches now so that's a lie. -Texting her friends and playing computer games with them as much as she is allowed. -Watching Hallmark movies day and night with me and Marvel movies with her dad. 8/21 and 8/22...

Two years ago today I was headed to the hospital ready to have my baby... At 1:02pm on August 22nd, we had our beautiful baby girl... It changed our lives forever. Cayleigh(aka-Kiwi, pee-wee, lovebug, etc) we love you so much and feel so blessed to have you as our little girl. Your sweetness and kindness is so beautiful, and your hugs and kisses mean more than you will ever know. Watching you grow and learn new things every day makes us so proud, and it remind us to slow down and look at life the way you see it.
